HNUR 2055 Pediatric and Obstetrical

(4-0-4) 5 Credits UN
This course includes concurrent theory and clinical experiences designed to introduce the practical nursing student in the care of the obstetrical clients, current issues, growth and development of the childbearing family, fetal development and gestation. Care of client during the antepartal, intrapartal, and postpartal periods, as well as care of the neonate. This course also presents essential information related to growth and development of infants, toddlers, preschool through school age and adolescent, and those disease common but not exclusive to the age group. Diet therapy and pharmacological interventions/commonly used medications are discussed at length. Utilizing a nursing process approach, the student will perform applicabe practical nursing clinical skill to maternal and neonatal clients during the anteprtal, intrapartal, and postpartal periods, in appropriate clinical sites, under the supervision and at the discretion of practical nursing faculty This course is a 60 hours clinical component.
