AVMT 1107 Aviation Maintenance Fundamentals I (3-12-0) 7 Credits UN A lecture/laboratory course involving the basic fundamentals of mathematics, physics, and aerodynamics and their relationship to aircraft maintenance. The course covers the fundamentals of aircraft drawings, sketches, blueprints, graphs, and charts. Prepares the student for basic flight line duties such as fueling, directing, securing, taxiing, and providing fire suppression for airplanes and helicopters. A study in the use of precision measuring tools, the identification of aircraft hardware and materials, nondestructive testing methods, inspection of welded structures, and basic heat-treating processes. The course includes the fabrication, installation, and inspection of flexible and rigid fluid lines. Aviation maintenance courses encourage students to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners and promote upgrading of skills for advancement in their selected profession. Pre-requisite(s): ACT Math Score of 18 or above or ACT English score of 15 or above or a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 1010 and MATH 1105 Concurrency: None Co-requisite(s): None
